Horizontal phase separators are used to continuously separate immiscible liquids of differing specific gravities. These vessels provide for low velocities, long residence times and large interface areas between the light and heavy phases - all factors aiding the separation process. The two phases are independently drained off at the outlet end. The transparency of borosilicate glass allows visual inspection of the interface for ease of operation.
